Based in Murcia, Spain
The official tourism board for southeastern Spain’s Murcia region – an area defined by its dual coastlines on the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor, Europe's largest saltwater lagoon. This 250-kilometer stretch is called the Costa Cálida, or "Warm Coast," for its 300-plus days of annual sunshine and tranquil waters, which are well-suited for family travel and water sports. The board’s marketing highlights the region's diverse offerings, which extend well beyond its white sand beaches. Wellness tourism is central, with therapeutic muds in the Mar Menor and numerous spa resorts. Active travel is supported by a network of golf courses, diving sites, and hiking trails through areas like the Sierra Espuña National Park. The region’s cultural heritage is anchored by cities such as Murcia, with its Baroque cathedral; Cartagena, home to a Roman Theatre; and the holy city of Caravaca de la Cruz. This approach is rounded out by a focus on gastronomy – Murcia was named the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy in 2021 – that combines produce from both land and sea. The board positions the region as a less crowded, yet multifaceted, alternative in Spain.
