John Henderson

John Henderson is an American journalist and travel blogger who explores Italy and global destinations in detail. After a nearly four-decade career as a sportswriter, including twenty-three years with *The Denver Post*, he retired to Rome in 2014. This move allowed him to fully dedicate himself to travel and expat life. He maintains two blogs: "Dog-Eared Passport," a weekly site chronicling his worldwide travels, and "TraveLazio," a bi-weekly blog that uncovers lesser-known places and day trips within Italy's Lazio region, often featuring photography by Marina Pascucci. With a travel history spanning 114 countries, Henderson has published over 450 blog posts for "Dog-Eared Passport" since settling in Rome. His work provides practical advice on activities, dining, and logistics, seeking to reveal "the Italy few people ever see." In 2006, he authored "An American Gladiator in Rome: Finding the Eternal Truth in the Infernal City," a book based on his earlier experiences living in Rome.
