About

As the peak industry body for Australia's tourism export sector, the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) supports and advocates for more than 1,000 member companies across the country. Its network ranges from multinational corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises, many of which are located in regional and remote areas. The organization focuses on creating commercial opportunities, addressing impediments to growth, and promoting the industry’s contribution to the broader Australian community. ATEC delivers targeted training and mentorship programs – including KITE, ChinaHost, and ELITE – designed to upskill personnel and prepare businesses for international engagement. It also hosts the annual Meeting Place, a cornerstone industry event that facilitates thousands of business-to-business appointments between Australian suppliers and international buyers. Key advocacy work led to the reinstatement of the Approved Destination Status program for the China market. The council has also established a formal commitment to equity through its Reconciliation Action Plan, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, to foster stronger relationships and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
