About

Matt Goulding is an American food journalist, author, and producer, splitting his time between Barcelona, Spain, and rural North Carolina. He began his career as the food editor at *Men's Health* magazine, where he developed the *New York Times* bestselling "Eat This, Not That" book series. In 2012, Goulding co-founded Roads & Kingdoms with Nathan Thornburgh and Douglas Hughmanick. The independent online publication explores in-depth narratives that examine culture and politics through the lens of food and travel. Roads & Kingdoms earned the James Beard Foundation Award for Publication of the Year in 2017 and a National Magazine Award for Website, Service and Lifestyle in 2019. His collaboration with Roads & Kingdoms and Anthony Bourdain on the digital series "Explore Parts Unknown" was also awarded an Emmy Award for Best Short Form Non-Fiction in 2018. Goulding also authored a food-focused travel series published through Anthony Bourdain's imprint. These include "Rice, Noodle, Fish: Deep Travels Through Japan's Food Culture" (2015), "Grape, Olive, Pig: Deep Travels Through Spain's Food Culture" (2016), and "Pasta, Pane, Vino: Deep Travels Through Italy's Food Culture" (2018). Across these works, Goulding delves into regional culinary traditions, providing a rich narrative and contextual understanding of a place that goes beyond typical travel guides. His storytelling uncovers the deeper cultural significance of food, a perspective he applies to all his projects.
