Malta Tourism Authority

Public entity responsible for guiding the tourism industry across the Maltese Islands. Established in 1999, the Malta Tourism Authority serves a dual role – acting as a regulator, motivator, and partner for the local industry while promoting the destination on a global stage. Its work is centered on building a sustainable, year-round tourism sector by attracting visitors from diverse markets and upholding professional standards. The Authority advises the government on tourism operations, issues industry licenses, and contributes to infrastructure planning and development. This approach has helped position Malta as a leading dive destination, a top city break, and an LGBT-friendly location. Recent efforts have successfully increased off-peak tourism, reflected in significant growth in visitor numbers and expenditure in early 2023. Looking ahead, the Authority is adopting artificial intelligence to personalize marketing and optimize resources, and it is set to host the WTTC Global Summit in 2026.
