At 54, feeling unfulfilled and recovering from illness – a sensation she likened to a "hole in the donut" – she began a six-month around-the-world trip to pursue writing, photography, and global exploration. Her work now centers on cultural immersion, highlighting commonalities across diverse populations to foster understanding and peace. Weibel’s blog shares stories that entertain, educate, and encourage readers to delve into unfamiliar cultures, promoting an inner journey alongside outward exploration. She specializes in independent, solo expeditions, practicing slow travel by living like locals and seeking destinations beyond typical tourist routes. This approach emphasizes staying present and finding contentment in the journey. Having visited over 100 countries, her articles have appeared in numerous print and online publications. After years of nomadic living, Weibel established a home base in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in late 2017. From there, she continues to travel approximately five months each year, focusing increasingly on cultural and spiritual connections.
