Based in Cebuano, Philippines
Estan Cabigas is a Filipino traveler, writer, and photographer based in Cebu, Philippines. He authors the travel blog "Langyaw," a Cebuano term meaning 'outsider' or 'traveler,' which shapes his unique approach to exploring destinations. His work delves into architecture, travel, and documentary photography, capturing both well-known tourist sites and more remote, off-the-beaten-path locations. Beyond his online presence, he undertakes specific projects and assignments, and regularly delivers talks on travel blogging and photography. Cabigas transitioned into photography in 2006, following a nine-year career as a telecoms engineer. His work has appeared in numerous international and local publications, including CNN Travel, National Geographic Magazine, the Sunday Times Magazine (London), the Philippine Daily Inquirer, and *Smile* magazine. From 2017 to 2019, he also served as a travel columnist for *Manila Bulletin's Going Places*. A significant portion of his photographic output is dedicated to religious colonial architecture, with a particular emphasis on Philippine churches. He was the principal photographer for the coffee-table book 'Pagsulay: Bohol Churches Before and After the 2013 Earthquake.' His photography has been exhibited in major cities across South and Southeast Asia, Europe, and China, notably at Photoquai 2013 in Paris. In addition to 'Langyaw,' he maintains specialized blogs such as 'Estan Cabigas Photography' and 'Simbahan.' 'Langyaw' received recognition as Best Travel Blog and a Digital Tribe Awardee at the Philippine Blog Awards in 2009.
